Writing in the June–July 2012 issue of the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, Dagmar Painter reviewed "The Subliminal Seduction of Spring", Mona’s exhibition at Washington, D.C.’s Jerusalem Fund Gallery from May 18 to June 22, 2012.

The review describes a year-long exploration of how the "children of the dictators" turned on their oppressors during the Arab Spring, using social media and the humour of the streets to break the codes of despotism, all couched in Mona’s signature jagged shapes and punchy colours. Its centrepiece is "We Are Being Pulled Apart", where the viewer is first charmed by cherry trees before noticing what is happening to the fruit.
